I sit at my desk today in Edmonton Alberta Canada with a Alice Parrott raw wool cape wrapped around my legs for warmth. The tag "parrott fabrics inc. handwoven in santa fe" was turned up to face me as I sat down to type. I decided to Goggle this to see what I could discover and came upon you all! What a treat to hear more about the woman who made this garment that keeps me warm today, what a lovely story and interesting woman. My aunt who was orginially from Ontario as I am, lived in Sante Fe and Estes Park Col.(she had a shop called Indian Summer). She gave my grandmother this cape as a gift probably about 40 years ago as well. My grandmother found it scratchy and gave it to me about 30 years ago. I brought it with me to Alberta as I admired the quality of the weaving and knew it was something special. thanks for the history. This cape is in the natural shades of grey mainly with a few stripes of natural ocher mixed in. If anyone knows more about her work, and these pieces in particular I am intersted in learning more. karen.saylor-ray@edmonton.ca
